Newport World Resorts has partnered with Viva Communications Inc. and The Philippine STAR to present “Bagets: The Musical,” a stage adaptation of the iconic 1984 Filipino film.
The production is slated to debut at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in early 2026.
“The partnership between Viva, Newport World Resorts, and The Philippine STAR is a testament to the power of synergy in the Philippine entertainment industry,” said Viva Communications Chairman and CEO Vic del Rosario. “Together, we’re bringing a piece of Filipino cinematic history to the stage in a way that’s both nostalgic and groundbreaking.”
Directed by the late Maryo J. de los Reyes and written by Jake Tordesillas, Bagets became a youth-oriented phenomenon in the 1980s.
The original film starred Aga Muhlach, William Martinez, JC Bonin, Raymond Lauchengco, and Herbert Bautista.
