The Office of the Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs (OSAPIEA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) expressed confidence that the upcoming dialogue with the United States will open doors for mutually beneficial trade arrangements.
“We are confident that, through our strong economic and diplomatic ties, we can find arrangements that are mutually advantageous,” said OSAPIEA Secretary Frederick Go during a consultation Tuesday.
DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque said “the consultative process has enhanced mutual understanding and alignment on shared goals.”
Ahead of their anticipated meeting with their US counterparts, Go and Roque jointly led stakeholder consultations with leaders of the country’s export sector.
The consultations aimed to gather insights and develop strategic measures to reinforce bilateral trade amid the recently imposed US reciprocal tariffs.
The discussions brought together key stakeholders from various export industries, including producers, manufacturers, consolidators, industry associations and relevant government agencies.
Participants shared their views on the current US market landscape, identifying both opportunities and challenges under the prevailing international trade environment.
Roque said the consultations highlight the country’s commitment to an open and inclusive process.
The DTI reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the interests of all sectors are considered in working to secure the best possible outcomes for the Philippines in the upcoming dialogue with the US.
Officials cited the importance of presenting the Philippines as a reliable and trusted trading partner, especially as the global trading environment faces rising uncertainties.
