The Department of Transportation (DOTr) extends its heartfelt gratitude to the San Miguel Corp. Tollways and Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) for lending a helping hand and offering to implement a toll holiday on the Skyway Stage 3 and NLEX Connector as alternate routes during the entire duration of the EDSA rebuild.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants to ease the burden of the EDSA rebuild to commuters and motorists, and this deep sense of social responsibility to the nation and Filipinos from our private partners will at least alleviate the expected struggles brought by the rebuild.
“We would like to thank the SMC and MPTC under the leadership of Mr. Ramon S. Ang and Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan because they are willing to set aside their daily revenue from tolls to help the government and our countrymen,” DOTr said.
The EDSA rebuild is set to start on June 13, 2025.
In addition to offering a free toll on a portion of Skyway Stage 3, the government plans several other interventions to manage traffic during the EDSA rehabilitation.
These include deploying 100 more bus units for the EDSA Busway, adding more trains to the MRT-3, implementing an odd-even scheme on EDSA, and clearing obstructions on alternate routes.
The odd-even scheme is set to have a one-week dry run starting June 16.
Under this scheme:
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will prohibit vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays will restrict vehicles with plate numbers ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8.
Sundays will be free for all vehicle.
