PHILIPPINE Padel Association team captain Atty. Jessica Agra made a significant leap in the International Padel Federation (FIP) world rankings, climbing 12 spots to reach World No. 161 following her recent performance at the FIP Silver Reap Manila.
Agra, alongside her partner Dilara Torsell of Türkiye, advanced to the tournament’s quarterfinals held recently at the Manila Padel Club in BGC, Taguig. After receiving a bye in the opening round, the duo dominated Ainhoa Sanyin of Spain and Novela Putria of Indonesia with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 victory in the Round of 16.
However, the 7th-seeded pair of Agra and Torsell fell short against the tournament’s second seeds—Ana Varo Ramos and Alba Perez Momha of Spain, ranked World No. 66 and 67, respectively. The Spanish duo prevailed with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
Agra’s recent rise in the rankings comes on the heels of another strong showing earlier this month at the FIP Bronze Damac Abu Dhabi in the UAE, where she also reached the quarterfinals.
Her breakthrough into the world’s top 200 was cemented in April during the FIP Bronze Reap tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Then ranked No. 210, Agra advanced to the semifinals in the women’s doubles event with Belgian partner Babette De Decker. Their impressive run was halted by the eventual champions, Lisa Rachel Phillips and Abigail Tordoff of the United Kingdom, in a 2-6, 1-6 defeat.
Next on Agra’s competitive calendar are two FIP Bronze tournaments in Indonesia: one in Jakarta from June 6–8 and another in Bali from June 13–15.
