David Hekili Kenui Bell of ‘Lilo & Stitch’ live-action film dies at 46

Hawaii-born actor David Hekili Kenui Bell, who featured as the “shave‑ice guy” in Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch, died June 12 in Kailua‑Kona. He was 46 years old.

Bell’s sister, Jalene Kanani Bell, confirmed his passing in a heartfelt Facebook tribute posted June 15.

She described him as “sweet, generous, talented, funny, brilliant and handsome,” writing that he had gone “in the company of our Heavenly Father.”

Hawaii police confirmed the death occurred at 2:26 p.m. on June 12 and stated no foul play is suspected. A coroner’s inquest and autopsy are underway in accordance with standard practice.

Best known for his cameo in the May-released Lilo & Stitch remake, Bell also held TV roles in Hawaii Five-O and Magnum P.I.

He was set to appear in the upcoming film The Wrecking Crew alongside Jason Momoa.
