Former NCT vocalist Moon Tae‑il, known as Taeil, pleaded guilty to aggravated rape charges during his first court appearance on June 18 at the Seoul Central District Court.
Prosecutors are requesting a seven‑year prison sentence, according to reports.
During the hearing, Taeil admitted to sexually assaulting a heavily intoxicated Chinese tourist alongside two co-defendants in June 2024.
The incident allegedly occurred after the group met at a bar in Itaewon and then proceeded to a residence in southern Seoul. Prosecutors allege the assault took place while the victim was unconscious.
Taeil also expressed remorse in court, saying he “deeply regrets” the harm caused and apologized to the victim and the public. He reportedly asked for leniency, noting he had reached a settlement with the victim.
Originally a member of NCT, Taeil was dropped from the group in August 2024 by SM Entertainment and later terminated after his indictment in February 2025. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 10.
