Fans gather at Gateway watch party with Dwight Ramos

Filipino fans recently turned Gateway Mall 2 into a basketball hub as the Japan B.League Finals reached Manila through a free Game 1 watch party, headlined by Filipino player Dwight Ramos.

Held at UGB Quantum Skyview, the event drew large crowds eager to catch the championship match between the Utsunomiya Brex and Ryukyu Golden Kings, broadcast live from Yokohama Arena in Japan. Many fans came to see Ramos, one of the most recognizable Filipino players in Japan’s B.League.

Ramos, who plays for Levanga Hokkaido, was welcomed by fans who lined up for photos and packed the viewing area. He gave live commentary during the game, sharing insights that added a personal touch to the event.

“It’s different when you hear it from someone who actually plays in the league. And Dwight has always made us proud,” a fan said.

The energy in the venue highlighted the strong connection Filipino fans have with basketball, especially when one of their own is playing overseas.

On court, the Utsunomiya Brex dominated with an 81–68 win over the Ryukyu Golden Kings, making 16 three-pointers and applying strong defensive pressure throughout the match.

The Manila watch party was part of the B.League Final Week in Manila 2025, supported by Cignal, the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
