For Sam Verzosa, success means little if it isn’t used to help others. Speaking to residents in Malate on Sunday night, Verzosa shared his story of hard work, education, and giving back—drawing cheers and laughter as he recounted milestones and life lessons from his journey as an entrepreneur.
Verzosa, who is running for mayor of Manila, said his goals remain rooted in service, with a focus on supporting communities through access to education, healthcare, and livelihood.
“I used education to improve my life,” he said to a packed street corner at Meding and Angel Linao Streets. “That’s what gave me the opportunity to find a good job, to start a business, and eventually to help others.”
A licensed civil engineer and the co-founder of the multinational company Frontrow, Verzosa credited a strong academic foundation and real-world hustle for his success.
“I always say, I will help you so you can help yourselves,” he said, referring to the food carts and livelihood programs he supported. “How can others lift you up if they haven’t lifted themselves?”
He also highlighted the everyday struggles he often sees in communities—especially among senior citizens, students, and working-class families.
“Medicine, checkups, even vitamins—it’s heavy on the pocket. That’s where I want to come in,” he said.
Verzosa said he wants to continue creating opportunities that help people get back on their feet—and stay there.
“This isn’t charity,” he said. “This is about creating something lasting. When a family is healthy, when a student is in school, when someone finds stable work—those are the real wins.”
As the night wound down, Verzosa asked for a simple favor—not applause, but a prayer.
“I’m doing this because of love. But yes, it gets tiring,” he admitted. “So just say a little prayer for me—and for the people still hoping for better days.”
