GMA Network received 19 awards at the 2025 Gandingan Awards, held recently at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), reaffirming its position as one of the country’s leading broadcast media organizations.
The network’s flagship newscast 24 Oras won “Most Development-Oriented Feature Story” for its segment How to Spot Deep Fake, while anchor Emil Sumangil was named “Best News Anchor.” Balitanghali co-anchor Raffy Tima received the “Best TV Program Host” award, and Joseph Morong was recognized as “Best Field Reporter.”
The investigative program The Atom Araullo Specials earned “Most Development-Oriented Documentary” for its episode Mga Boses sa Hukay, while Reporter’s Notebook won “Most Development-Oriented Investigative Story” for Nasaan ang Pera: Pabahay.
GMA Entertainment Group’s historical series Pulang Araw, widely regarded as the most significant Philippine television series of 2024, was recognized as “Most Development-Oriented Drama Program.”
GMA Synergy also secured awards, with JuliexStell: Ang Ating Tinig winning “Most Development-Oriented Musical Segment/Program” and NCAA Siglo Uno: Inspiring Legacies named “Most Development-Oriented TV Plug.”
Online, GMA News Online’s feature Living the History: Reenactment Buffs Tell Tales of Filipinos’ Wartime Valor won “Most Development-Oriented Online Feature Article.”
For radio, Barangay LS 97.1’s Papa Dudut was honored as “Best FM Radio Program Host.”
Broadcast journalist Jessica Soho led the list of individual awardees, receiving the “Gandingan ng Kalikasan” honor. Her long-running news magazine show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho also won “Most Development-Oriented Environmental Program” for its episode Nickel and Dime.
GTV’s State of the Nation was awarded “Most Development-Oriented Gender Transformative Program,” while The Howie Severino Podcast, part of GMA Integrated News’ digital content, received the award for “Most Development-Oriented Educational Program.”
Nightly segment hosts Kim Atienza and Martin Javier were named “Gandingan ng Edukasyon” and “Gandingan ng Kabataan,” respectively. Both appear on 24 Oras, with Atienza hosting KuyaKimAnoNa and Javier presenting science and innovation features in Game Changer.
Other awardees included Dear SV for “Most Development-Oriented Public Service Program,” and weekend show Agripreneur, which received the “Gandingan ng Kabuhayan” citation.
This year’s Gandingan Awards carried the theme “Tagahabi ng Kasaysayan Para sa Bayan.” The awards, organized by the UP Community Broadcasters’ Society since 2007, recognize outstanding contributions in media. Winners are selected through a rigorous screening process involving UPLB faculty, students, and experts in the humanities and social sciences.
