Filipina singer Morissette Amon has been nominated for Best Actress at the 58th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival for her role in the musical film “Song of the Fireflies.”
Amon portrays Alma Taldo, the founder of the Loboc Children’s Choir in Bohol, in the film directed by King Palisoc and written by Sarge Lacuesta.
The story is inspired by the real-life journey of the choir and its impact on the community.

The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Manila International Film Festival in March, where Amon received the Best Actress award.
At WorldFest-Houston, Amon is nominated alongside Brazil’s Suzana Pires for Cancer with Virgo Rising and the USA’s Devin Sidell for Love, Danielle.
The festival, which showcases independent films from around the world, runs until May 4, with the awards ceremony scheduled for May 2 at the River Oaks Theater in Houston, Texas.
Known as “Asia’s Phoenix,” Amon is widely recognized for her vocal prowess. This nomination is one of her first major recognitions in acting.
