Comelec: Honoraria payout for over 758K poll workers to be done by Friday

The distribution of honoraria to the 758,549 teachers and other poll workers who served in the recently concluded 2025 National and Local Elections will be completed this Friday, said Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman George Erwin Garcia.

In a television interview, Garcia said the distribution of honoraria in seven regions is already at 100 percent, while payout across Metro Manila is around 70 percent.

The Comelec chief made the assurance after the Alliance of Concerned Teachers-National Capital Region (ACT-NCR) union urged the government for the “immediate release” of the honoraria for public school teachers.

“We were given 15 days based on the law to distribute the honoraria… Hopefully, it will be completed by Friday,” the poll chairman said.

Earlier, ACT-NCR union president Ruby Bernardo expressed concern that some teachers worked for more than 24 consecutive hours. “Some of them have to spend their own money for food and transportation, to serve on Election Day,” she said.

The Comelec estimated the number of poll workers for the May 2025 polls at 758,459 majority of whom are public school teachers.

Aside from the P2,000 across-the-board compensation the teachers will also receive an additional P1,000.
