Six key officials retained, three others removed

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has retained several top officials in key government posts while accepting the courtesy resignations of three presidential appointees, Malacañang announced on Thursday.

In a Palace press briefing, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed that Mr. Marcos has reappointed Jose Arnulfo Veloso as President and General Manager of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Lynette Ortiz as President and CEO of Land Bank of the Philippines, and Michael de Jesus as President and CEO of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

Also retained are Eduardo Guillen as Administrator of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), Mel Robles as General Manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), and Emmanuel Mercado as President and CEO of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

“This is just proof that the performance of the heads of agencies and other leaders who need to be trusted by the President is continuously being thoroughly evaluated,” Castro said.

At the same time, Castro announced that the President has accepted the courtesy resignations of Presidential Adviser on Legislative Affairs Mark Leandro Mendoza, Presidential Adviser on Military and Police Affairs Roman Felix, and PNOC Renewables Corporation President and CEO John Arenas.

Castro noted that the resignations were voluntarily submitted and accepted as part of the administration’s ongoing leadership evaluation across various agencies.

“The evaluation is still ongoing, and we can expect that more names may be included, retained, or replaced,” she added.
