Dismissed cop and controversial vlogger Francis Steve Fontillas was arrested over a criminal complaint for allegedly inciting sedition under Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said that Fontillas was apprehended based on a warrant issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 224. Bail has since been recommended at P36,000.
This follows a social media post where Fontillas made threats against the Philippine government and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) from March 12 to 13 while in uniform.
The former cop said that he could arrest President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. once the latter is no longer in office, adding that he would never obey the chief executive or anyone who gives him a wrong order.
“Said postings went viral and caused unrest in the community,” the NCRPO said.
“He has a warrant. So, the warrant has to be implemented,” Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III told reporters when asked about the case.
Fontillas was earlier dismissed from the service for grave misconduct, conduct unbecoming of a police officer, and disloyalty to the government.
