PAHRA to Senate on P200 wage hike: Approve it or be held accountable

The Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA) welcomes the successful passage of the proposed ₱200 minimum wage hike on its third and final reading at the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

“This is a significant step toward economic justice for Filipino workers who have long endured stagnant wages amid rising living costs,” the group said in a press statement.

“The workers won! But this is not where the battle ends. This victory can only be felt if it is immediately recognized and approved by the Senate,” added PAHRA Secretary-General Egay Cabalitan.

Cabalitan said they are closely watching how the senators will respond to this development.

“Every step you take, which can block or derail its passage will not be forgotten. The public will hold you accountable should you choose to frustrate the working Filipinos,” he told the senators.

PAHRA reminded the Senate that workers are watching closely, and their patience is not limitless. The public expects no less than immediate action to turn this legislative promise into lived reality.

“Delays or obstruction will be seen for what they are: an affront to labor rights and the Filipino people’s demand for economic dignity,” the organization said.
