THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) has raided three auto surplus shops in Davao City for alleged importation and rebuild of right-hand vehicles.
LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said the agency, backed by the police and the local government, swooped down on JP Malik Trucks and Equipment Corp., Mahar Motor Surplus Corp. and Umar Japan OPC after following intelligence reports that the shops were illegally importing and assembling right-hand drive vehicles.
“This is part of our sustained operations since the raid we conducted in Quezon City last month against these kinds of illegal activities. We are conducting an investigation and charges will be filed,” he said.
The three Davao City-based surplus shops had no LTO accreditation as importer, rebuilder, and dealer of right-hand drive vehicles, Mendoza said.
