DOJ: Teves cases have yet to be consolidated

The consolidation of cases filed against former Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo ‘Arnie’ Teves Jr. has yet to be determined, according to Justice Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Mico Clavano.

“As per consultation to the Prosecutor General, he will analyze and study the need to manifest the consolidation… The process is that when a case is finalized in court, the only parties recognized by the court are the prosecutors,” he explained in Filipino.

He added they will also be getting the side of the prosecutors handling the records of the case.

Among the considerations to consolidate, according to him, include the similarities of evidence and witnesses.

While it will still be a long process, the DOJ looks forward to a speedy trial of cases to deliver justice to the victims.

Likewise, he noted that Teves’ security remains to be a concern of the DOJ such that they may ask the court for consolidation or allow the former lawmaker to attend through video conferencing.
