The Quezon City government reopened its doors to aspiring scholars as it begins accepting applications for the Quezon City Scholarship Program this school year 2025–2026.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said this is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to democratize access to education.
“Investing in our students is investing in the future of our city. The growing number of our scholars proves our commitment to bridging the gaps in education and creating equal opportunities for all,” she said.
Belmonte vowed to double the number of scholars by 2028, reinforcing Quezon City’s commitment to inclusive and progressive education.
From June 2 to 13, eligible senior high school, college and vocational education students may submit their applications through the QC eServices website.
To qualify, applicants must be bona fide residents of Quezon City with a valid QCitizen ID and not receiving any other scholarships from local government units.
This year also marks the launch of the QC Excel Scholarship, a new and prestigious category aimed at nurturing the city’s next generation of civic leaders, Belmonte said.
Open to incoming first-year college students taking up priority courses, the QC Excel Scholarship seeks students with outstanding academic performance, demonstrated leadership experience and a deep commitment to public service.
Since 2019, 39,566 QCitizens have benefitted from the city’s scholarship program.
For School Year 2024–2025 alone, 17,422 scholars were supported following the passage of Ordinance No. SP-3283, S-2024.
The ordinance broadened scholarship categories and increased financial aid and stipends for beneficiaries.
As of 2025, a total of 14,898 QCSP scholars have already graduated, many of whom are now thriving in the fields of business, information technology, engineering, and education.
“Beyond academic support, our scholarship program empowers students to become active contributors to nation-building,” Belmonte noted.
The city’s scholars are also receiving access to mentorship programs and are encouraged to participate in leadership and community engagement activities organized by the city.
