A police officer accused of fatally shooting a businesswoman in Davao City on Sunday night surrendered to authorities early Monday morning, according to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).
In a statement, the DCPO said the officer—assigned to Police Station 15 (Ecoland Police Station)—turned himself in at around 5 a.m. on May 26.
His identity has yet to be disclosed as investigations continue.
The victim, identified only as Anna, 39, was reportedly shot at around 11:35 p.m. on May 25 along Palma Gil Street. Witnesses said a gunshot rang out, followed by a man fleeing the scene.
Moments later, Anna emerged from a black Mitsubishi pickup truck, wounded, and called for help. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead shortly after arrival.
The suspect has since been placed under the custody of the Santa Ana Police Station, where appropriate charges are being prepared.
Authorities said the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.
