The ‘Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas’ on Friday expressed support for a fair and transparent investigation into mounting complaints against PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp., emphasizing the urgency of addressing water service concerns through proper channels.
“Public concerns over water service—whether involving a local utility or a private provider like PrimeWater—deserve to be addressed through proper and transparent channels,” said Navotas Representative and the coalition’s campaign manager Toby Tiangco.
Tiangco said clean and reliable water is a basic need and should be treated as a public priority.
The coalition’s statement follows Malacañang’s announcement that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is considering an official inquiry into PrimeWater’s operations amid growing consumer complaints across various cities.
“Any inquiry must be guided by facts and focused on ensuring providers meet their obligations to the people,” Tiangco said.
Tiangco also clarified that Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar—whose family owns PrimeWater—remains on Alyansa’s Senate slate.
He affirmed the coalition’s trust in Villar’s integrity and commitment to transparency.
“We respect her track record in public service and trust that she, like all our candidates, supports efforts that promote transparency, accountability, and the public good,” he said.
Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte claimed that the investigation is politically motivated following her endorsement of Camille Villar’s candidacy.
“The administration’s moves are clearly political,” Duterte said in an interview.
“I have yet to see any effort by this administration aimed at peace and progress—only political attacks against those they cannot intimidate or buy,” she added.
