The Department of Health (DOH) ramped up its digitization efforts to speed up the delivery of nutrition services to more than 3 million Filipinos across 275 local government units (LGUs).
“The information system harmonizes with the National Health Data Repository, supports the DOH digital health ecosystem, and integrates seamlessly with DSWD’s (Department of Social Welfare and Development) information systems,” Health Secretary Ted Herbosa said.
The initiative comes in response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to closely monitor the nutritional health of Filipinos, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life, a critical window for child development.
Among the key services being deployed digitally are on-the-spot nutrition counseling and infant and young child feeding guidance. The Health Department is also distributing micronutrient supplements to address deficiencies in vulnerable populations.
Pregnant women receive antenatal care through improved systems designed to track and manage maternal health. Full immunization services for children are also being made more accessible through local health units equipped with updated digital tools.
The DOH also included welfare assistance, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs in its digitized rollout.
“Through this, we ensure nutrition data is not just collected, but connected, integrated, and translated into action,” Herbosa concluded.
