The Southern Police District (SPD) has launched the Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) program at its headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
SPD Director Brigadier General Joseph Arguelles stated that this initiative aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision for a food-secure and resilient Philippines.
“This is a clear testament to the Southern Police District’s commitment to a holistic approach to public service, where community welfare, economic inclusivity, and proactive law enforcement go hand in hand,” he said during the launch on Wednesday.
The KNP stalls offered a variety of goods, including fresh vegetables, fruits, rice, eggs, and other local products, all sold at prices lower than those in the market.
Arguelles emphasized that the program not only helps Filipino families access affordable, high-quality goods but also empowers local producers, fisherfolk, and small-scale enterprises by allowing them to sell directly to consumers, which eliminates middlemen and increases their profit margins.
During the event, police personnel and civilians at the SPD headquarters took advantage of the opportunity to purchase essential goods at affordable rates, highlighting the program’s practical impact.
The KNP will take place every Wednesday at the SPD and is open to everyone.
Arguelles encouraged ongoing participation in initiatives like the KNP, noting that these programs foster closer relationships between the police and the community. He added that they contribute to nation-building by supporting grassroots economic activity.
The program, which is being implemented in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, is one of the government’s flagship projects aimed at promoting food security, economic empowerment, and sustainable community development.
By bringing markets closer to the people, the KNP serves as a bridge between producers and consumers, ultimately striving to strengthen local economies and reduce hunger.
