The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday announced it held a meeting with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and GCash to combat the rising threat of cybercrime involving the digital finance sector.
The meeting underscored the critical importance of strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies and private sector stakeholders in safeguarding digital financial ecosystems, according to the Justice Department.
Among those present in the strategic meeting were Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, the DOJ Office of Cybercrime (DOJ-OOC), and representatives from GCash, as well as FBI officials in Manila.
The DOJ recognized the increasing sophistication of cybercriminal activities.
Consequently, it discussed ways to enhance information sharing, streamline coordination in investigations, and develop proactive measures to detect and prevent online financial crimes.
All parties reaffirmed their commitment to work collaboratively in identifying and addressing emerging threats, ensuring swift action against cybercriminals, and protecting the public’s trust in digital platforms.
