Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) officials made surprise inspections of key airports in Western Visayas over the weekend, as part of the government’s push to modernize regional airport infrastructure.
“These visits highlight President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to upgrade regional airports, boost tourism, and strengthen national connectivity,” said CAAP Chief Information Officer Eric Apolonio. The team visited Bacolod-Silay Airport and Antique Airport to assess ongoing and completed projects aimed at enhancing passenger experience.
Aviation officials also met with local government units to discuss partnerships for the continued development and modernization of regional airports.
The government stressed its commitment to delivering people-centered infrastructure that improves travel efficiency, accessibility, and overall transport services.
CAAP reaffirmed its goal of developing safer, more efficient, and passenger-friendly airports to drive economic growth and strengthen regional links.
