The City Government of Valenzuela has just deployed 41 BYD Dolphin electric vehicles for its police and administrative functions, establishing the city as the first local government unit in the Philippines to operate the largest electric vehicle police fleet. The move aligns with the city’s modernization goals and broader efforts to reduce emissions and promote cleaner governance. To support the new fleet, Greenstrum, an ACMobility subsidiary, has installed 15 AC chargers across 12 locations. Plans are also underway to install public DC fast chargers throughout the city, starting at the Alert Station, which will be accessible to the public via the Evro app.
Thirty-five of the 41 BYD Dolphin units will be utilized by the Valenzuela City Police Station for patrol duties, while five are assigned to city government offices and one as a first responder vehicle. Each Dolphin features a 95 PS electric motor and a 44.9 kWh BYD Blade Battery, providing a range of up to 450 kilometers and supporting 30-minute fast charging – crucial for operational demands. Police units are equipped with standard emergency lighting and communication systems.
Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian highlighted the city’s leadership role, stating, “By aiming to be the first LGU… with the largest fleet of electric vehicles and the most extensive network of government and public charging stations… we have become torchbearers of the country.” He added that strategically placed charging stations aim to make the transition to EVs effortless for all residents.
