Wear your luck on your sleeve

Patricia Broniola, a recent graduate of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, has introduced Lucky Strike, a fashion line that showcases handcrafted design with cultural motifs linked to good fortune.

The debut collection includes a range of wearable pieces inspired by global symbols of luck, such as embroidered ladybugs, four-leaf clovers, and crystal-beaded amulets. The brand incorporates artisanal techniques like embroidery, beadwork, and crochet, which Broniola said serve both aesthetic and symbolic purposes.

One of the standout items is a metallic gazar dress accented with crystal beadwork and lace, a gingham skirt embroidered with ladybugs, and a customizable poncho designed for versatility. The brand also offers personalized market bags, accessories, and a blind bag featuring a crocheted charm.

Broniola, a Fashion Design and Merchandising alumna, said the brand was born from her interest in objects believed to bring prosperity and the desire to create clothing with meaning.

“Sometimes, luck is in the tiniest of things—like finding a 50-peso bill or seeing a friendly cat,” she said.

She is part of the 2025 cohort of the Benilde Hub of Innovation for Inclusion (HiFi) Crowdfunding Accelerator, a three-month program that provides mentorship and funding support for creative ventures. Through the initiative, Broniola hopes to engage audiences that support slow fashion and local craftsmanship.

She plans to expand by collaborating with artisan communities and selling through pop-up shops across Metro Manila. The designer also aims to shift to sustainable production systems in the future.

Broniola said she hopes to balance storytelling with practicality in her work. “The goal is not just to make something pretty, but to make pieces with purpose,” she said.

The Lucky Strike collection is currently featured on crowdfunding platform The Spark Project.
