Taiwan passport holders can enter the Philippines without a visa for tourism starting July 1.
On Thursday, June 19, the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) announced that the policy allows Taiwanese tourists to stay in the country for up to 14 days, provided they present a passport valid for at least six months, confirmed hotel reservations, proof of financial capacity, and a return or onward ticket.
The move mirrors Taiwan’s continued visa-free access for Philippine passport holders, which was recently extended.
“This reciprocity strengthens tourism and people-to-people exchanges between the Philippines and Taiwan,” MECO said in an advisory.
Those intending to stay beyond two weeks or visiting for purposes other than tourism will still need to apply for a visa. Requirements include a completed visa application form, a Taiwan national ID, round-trip flight details, and payment of a visa fee.
Before the change, Taiwanese travelers were required to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for short visits, which allowed stays of up to 30 days and multiple entries.
The Philippines had earlier relaxed entry restrictions for Taiwanese government officials traveling for trade and economic missions.
