John Hay Hotels shifts focus to staff welfare under new management

Baguio City’s John Hay Hotels has begun imposing a 5 percent service charge for the first time in its history, aiming to benefit long-serving employees at the former The Manor and The Forest Lodge properties.

The charge, which took effect March 1, is part of management changes under Landco Lifestyle Ventures (LLV), the hospitality unit of Landco Pacific Corporation and a member of Metro Pacific Investments Group.

The new policy recognizes employees’ role in maintaining service quality

The fee will be distributed directly to hotel staff, many of whom have worked at the property for decades without receiving a service charge. LLV said the policy aims to recognize the role of employees in maintaining the quality of service expected from one of the Philippine summer capital’s most prominent hospitality brands.

“This long-overdue service charge is about fairness,” said Patrick C. Gregorio, head of LLV. “It ensures our team shares in the value they help create.”

The service shift is part of LLV’s management overhaul under Landco Pacific and Metro Pacific, led by Manuel V. Pangilinan. Now handling John Hay Hotels via BCDA, LLV is upgrading facilities, services, and staff training to build both a top destination and a workplace built on dignity and shared success.
