Emerging Filipino artists from across the country are joining forces with humanitarian group World Vision to raise awareness and support for child nutrition through an art exhibit and auction in Pasay City.
The Next Gen: The New Faces of Art exhibit, organized by World Vision in partnership with Raya Gallerie and DryBrush Gallery, is on view at Dry Brush Gallery in MOA Square, Mall of Asia, until May 30. A by-invitation vernissage was held on May 17, followed by a private auction on May 24. An art workshop for children is scheduled on May 25.
Proceeds from the auction will go to World Vision’s “Bawat Batang Pinoy Malusog” (BBPM) campaign, which aims to help rehabilitate 7,700 undernourished children and provide clean drinking water to over 900,000 people by 2026.
BBPM’s interventions include nutrition rehabilitation through the Positive Deviance/Hearth program, early childhood care through Go Baby Go parenting sessions, and WASH initiatives that promote clean water and sanitation access in homes and schools.
Among the featured artists is Junevy Formentera Llosa, a Cebu-based painter who started with pencil and ballpen sketches before pursuing Architecture. Despite personal challenges, he continued painting and has won several national competitions.
Also joining the exhibit is Morris Labana of Samar, whose works include “The Thread of the Past,” a series combining gold thread imagery with themes of memory and emotion. Labana’s works have appeared in local auctions and media features since 2013.
From Iloilo, self-taught artist Katelyn Ann de los Santos Miñoso will present works that focus on her personal reflections and environment. She has participated in multiple exhibitions, including the National Museum and the Modern and Contemporary Art Festival.
Other participating artists include Vicson Apostol, Rico Bastasa, Jeanne Belmonte, Racmah Dirumpongan, Monie Domer, Jhon Lhoyd Escueta, Clem Steve Huerte, Harold “D-Lorah” Macabitas, Kyna Francine Yap Ong, Krizzia Purog (Likha Malaya), Cristel Ramos, and Leandro Sebastian (Neugrey).
