Forum tackles women’s health with bold conversations

Global healthcare company Organon recently hosted a forum in the Philippines to address pressing concerns in women’s health, focusing on hormonal transitions and unintended pregnancies.

The event, titled “Women’s Health Unveiled: Insights Into Hormonal Shifts and Unplanned Pregnancies,” brought together medical professionals and women’s health advocates to explore ways to improve healthcare for women.

Organon Philippines country manager Emmanuel Tiglao emphasized the company’s commitment to women’s health, noting that their mission has long been to provide essential medicines and contraceptives to those in need.

“We believe every woman counts,” he said, reaffirming the company’s dedication to improving healthcare outcomes for women worldwide.

Dr. Bernabe Marinduque, a key speaker at the forum, focused on unintended pregnancies, a global issue that continues to affect millions of women. His talk, “Breaking the Silence: Understanding and Addressing Unintended Pregnancies,” highlighted the barriers preventing women from accessing contraceptive services and the stigma surrounding unplanned pregnancies.

Dr. Marinduque stressed the need for education, open discussions, and integrating family planning into healthcare services to address these challenges. Dr. Marinduque also shared stories from his practice, illustrating the emotional and social impacts of unintended pregnancies on women.

Dr. Eileen Manalo talks about empowering women on their reproductive choices during her talk at Organon’s Women’s Health forum

Dr. Eileen Manalo discussed the effects of hormonal shifts on women’s health, particularly during transitions like menopause. Her presentation, “Women’s Health Odyssey: A Journey through Hormonal Transition,” underscored the importance of awareness and accessible healthcare solutions to support women through these changes. She also emphasized the connection between reproductive health and economic resilience, urging better healthcare access to empower women in managing their health.

During a panel discussion, both Dr. Marinduque and Dr. Manalo called for the removal of barriers to women’s healthcare, including limited access to specialists, financial constraints, and insufficient information. The experts encouraged healthcare providers to help women make informed reproductive choices.

Organon also highlighted its introduction of ultra-low-dose oral contraceptive pills containing desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol in the Philippines. These pills offer multiple benefits, including regular menstrual cycles and improved skin conditions, while having a neutral effect on weight.

The forum is part of Organon’s ongoing efforts to improve women’s health globally. The company plans to continue holding discussions to drive meaningful change in healthcare, empowering women to make informed health decisions.
