Watsons, the flagship health and beauty brand of AS Watson, said on Earth Day it has expanded its carbon offset partnership with ClimatePartner, aiming to neutralize more than 4,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions through customer purchases of selected products.
The move builds on a 2023 initiative that initially included seven product ranges. It now covers 30 ranges of Watsons Sustainable Choice products sold across its online and physical stores in Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Turkey, and GCC markets.
In addition to reforestation efforts in Rimba Raya, Indonesia, Watsons is supporting afforestation in Dingxi, mainland China, an area severely affected by desertification and drought. The project includes planting native, drought-resistant tree species to restore degraded land and create new forested areas.
The initiative also provides job opportunities for local communities, particularly for women, in tree planting and forest maintenance roles.
Watsons said its sustainability campaign has received positive feedback from customers and has been integrated into local employee-led programs. In the Philippines, the brand said it has planted over 5,800 trees through eco-tours and collected more than 30 sacks of waste during coastal cleanups.
The company said these efforts are part of its broader push to engage both customers and employees in environmental action as part of a long-term climate strategy.
