Cavinti, Laguna—As part of its mission to maintain a safe environment for youth, the Cavinti Philippine National Police (PNP) launched the “Kalendaryo Kontra Krimen 2025” (Crime Prevention Calendar) with bookmarks distributed to elementary and high school students in the Laguna town.
PNP Cavinti Chief Major Celso Jhune Talampas led the project, which was developed in response to PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III’s directive to intensify nationwide anti-crime campaigns using the 911 emergency hotline.
The bookmark themed “Ang Serbisyo ng Pulis Cavinti, Maasahan Palagi” (Cavinti Police Service: Always Reliable), contains essential information such as safety tips for children and the youth, particularly under the PNP’s Oplan Balik Eskwela (Back-to-School Program).
It aims to guide students in avoiding potential dangers like bullying, abuse, and other crimes. Emergency hotlines, including 911, are also printed on the bookmark to prepare the community for any incident.
According to Talampas, the project was designed to spread awareness about safety.
“Our goal is to teach children from a young age how to stay alert. Through the tips and hotlines printed on these bookmarks, we hope this becomes part of their daily routine, helping foster safe and peaceful schools.”
The bookmark is designed as a mini calendar for 2025. Aside from dates and special occasions, it includes reminders for the safety of the youth such as:
1. Avoid talking to strangers
2. Call 911 or local police in times of danger
3. Share problems with parents or teachers
4. Stay aware of your surroundings
Teachers and parents praised the Cavinti PNP’s initiative, noting that the bookmarks serve as free tools to remind children of safety practices while studying.
Talampas added that the project is part of a broader police program to engage the community and become “partners in protecting the youth’s future.”
