The Quezon City government is offering free online Japanese classes once again to all interested learners nationwide regardless of their place of residence.
“The QC Public Library’s free online language class opens doors of opportunity for every QCitizen — reminding us that in Quezon City, learning knows no limits, and progress begins with knowledge,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
Tailored specifically for beginners, the course covers essential Japanese grammar, vocabulary, everyday expressions and the basics of Hiragana and Katakana writing systems.
The program is open even to non-Quezon City residents as long as they are 18 years old and above, and have access to a laptop, desktop or smartphone, a stable internet connection and a Zoom account.
The initiative is part of the QC Public Library’s ongoing commitment to lifelong learning and cross-cultural understanding, and reflects the city government’s broader vision to make education inclusive and accessible for all.
Participants will also gain insights into Japanese customs, etiquette and cultural practices, offering a holistic learning experience beyond language acquisition.
Belmonte assured that classes are led by experienced instructors and trained volunteers from Jellyfish Education Philippines Inc., the Public Library’s official partner since the program’s launch in 2019.
Following the successful completion of 172 graduates from the most recent batch last May 22, the QC Public Library is now accepting registrants for the next session, which begins on June 19.
Since its launch, the free Japanese language program has produced 3,642 graduates, and it continues to be one of the city’s most in-demand learning programs.
