At least 200 homes were gutted by a massive fire that swept through a residential compound in Barangay Talaba 3 late Saturday night, leaving hundreds of families homeless.
The Bacoor City Fire Department reported that the blaze started at around 10:40 p.m. in Paraiso Compound Zone 6. A fire officer declared the first alarm 11 minutes later as strong winds helped the flames spread rapidly.
By 11:01 p.m., a second alarm had been raised as firefighters battled to contain the fire. It took more than three hours for fire crews to fully extinguish the blaze. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire and the total amount of damage.
Displaced residents are temporarily staying in the Talaba Covered Court and Talaba Elementary School, where they are receiving hot meals and basic assistance from the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
