Cagayan’s ‘dream bridge’ to become reality in August

TUGUEGARAO City—The so-called Cagayan Dream Bridge, a P2.4-billion project connecting the towns of Camalaniugan and Aparri in Cagayan province will soon become a reality.

Then Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba anxiously monitored the construction of the span seen to dramatically boost the economy and standards of living of his constituents.

The bridge was also designed to “enhance the movement of products and services, creating new avenues for investment and trade in the municipalities of Aparri, Camalaniugan, and Ballesteros.

The bridge was part of a five-bridge program enunciated in Cagayan Development Agenda 2025 under Mamba’s administration which started in 2016.

The ongoing construction of the two-kilometer Camalaniugan Bridge across the Cagayan River and known as the longest cable span in Region 2, will link the town to Aparri.

It will serve as an alternate route to the Magapit Bridge in Lal-lo, reducing travel time from Aparri to Ballesteros by 20 minutes. The project is expected to provide a new connectivity between eastern and western Cagayan, benefitting about 6,000 daily travelers.

It is expected to be completed this coming August.
