Taguig City opens EMBO health centers to serve residents

The Taguig City government has announced the opening of health centers in the enlisted men’s barrio (EMBO) barangays.

“The City of Taguig is pleased to announce that starting Wednesday, May 7, the EMBO Health Centers will be open and ready to serve. Residents can now access free and quality health services right within their communities,” the city’s public information office said in its advisory.

The health centers will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, at the following locations:

·         South Cembo Health Center – Gen. Aguinaldo St. South Cembo (attached to South Cembo Barangay Hall)

·         Pembo Health Center – Sampaguita St. Corner Santan, Pembo

·         Pitogo Health Center – Cebu St., Pitogo (attached to Pitogo Barangay Hall)

·         Comembo Health Center – Anahaw St., Comembo (attached to Comembo Barangay Hall)

·         Cembo Health Center – 110 Kalayaan Avenue (until further notice)

·         Rizal Primary Health Center – Amarillo St., Rizal (along the main road of Barangay Rizal)

·         East Rembo Health Center – 23rd Avenue, East Rembo

·         West Rembo Health Center – J.P. Rizal Extension, West Rembo (also serves Post Proper Northside residents)

“Taguig has been prepared to open these health centers for over two years. Now, after the City secured a court order, EMBO residents can finally access these services in their own communities,” the city information office added.

On Monday, a Taguig City court issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) requiring the Makati City government to cease its obstruction of access to and possession of government-owned facilities in the aforementioned barangays.

The order enforces the Supreme Court’s 2022 ruling, which affirmed that Barangays Cembo, South Cembo, Comembo, East Rembo, West Rembo, Pembo (including Rizal), Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, and Post Proper Southside fall within Taguig’s territorial jurisdiction.

Among the public facilities now accessible under Taguig’s administration are health centers, covered courts, daycare centers, parks, and multipurpose buildings—many of which had been shuttered, cutting off essential services for thousands of residents.

Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano welcomed the court’s ruling and reiterated the city’s commitment to keeping these public facilities open and fully operational for all EMBO residents.

In issuing the TRO, the court recognized the “extreme urgency” of the case and warned that Taguig faced “grave injustice and irreparable injury” without immediate judicial relief.

Additional services are set to be rolled out in these facilities across the EMBO barangays in the coming days as part of the city’s integration of the area into its health, education, and social welfare programs.

Preparations are underway, with equipment and furnishings currently being deployed across the reopened facilities to ensure they become fully functional and ready for public use as soon as possible.
