The Department of Justice conducted its first lecture series in Region 3 to teach future lawyers and law enforcers of the country how the criminal justice system works.
In collaboration with the John Wesley School of Law and Governance and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Nueva Ecija Chapter, 51 law students and 39 criminology students attended the lecture held at the Wesleyan University-Philippines in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
“As the principal law agency of the government, it is essential on our part to engage and empower our future lawyers and law enforcers to ensure that real justice for all will always be upheld not just today but for future generations,” said Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.
Meanwhile, Justice Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez urged participants to listen not merely with their ears but their conscience and to use their voices not to argue but to build, uplift and defend others.
The activity was attended by IBP Nueva Ecija President Maria Carmela Wenceslao, IBP Nueva Ecija Secretary Jo Anne Florenz Padilla, and JWSLG Associate Dean Darren Gonzales, among others.
Among the topics discussed cover the fundamentals of Preliminary Investigation and Inquest, salient provisions of Republic Act No. 10175, and an overview on the functions and services of DOJ Action Center.
