BIR surpassed 4-month target

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said Friday it surpassed its four-month collection target by raising P1.111 trillion, net of tax refunds.

It said the figure was P7.045 billion higher than its goal for the period and represented a 14.50-percent, or P140.695-billion increase, compared to the same period last year.

The cumulative collection as of April 2025 also accounted for more than 35 percent of the BIR’s full-year 2025 target of P3.232 trillion. The 2025 annual target is 13.36 percent or P380.871 billion higher than the actual collection in calendar year 2024.

“With the intensification of the bureau’s tax enforcement activities, specifically on the campaign against sellers and buyers of fake receipts, and with the continuous streamlining and digitalization of the BIR’s core services, we hope to encourage all non-compliant taxpayers to comply fully with the provisions and requirements of the tax laws so we can attain, and even surpass, our annual collection target this year,” said BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr.
