The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) said it is fast-tracking the evaluation of nearly 300 applications that the commission received for the initial 64 positions it opened in April 2025, following an overwhelming response to its recent hiring call.
It said that as of May 2025, it narrowed its shortlist to 182 candidates, following an initial pool of 298 applicants for the 64 positions. These open posts are part of the 105 contractual roles approved by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to address staffing gaps in the ERC and strengthen its regulatory and operational capacity.
“We are carefully going through each application because it is important to have the right people on board,” ERC chairperson and chief executive Monalisa Dimalanta.
“The energy sector deserves a stronger, more capable team at the ERC that can effectively deliver on our promise of fair and transparent energy regulation,” she said.
The ERC also urged lawyers and legal experts in the energy sector to join the commission as it recently opened 22 Attorney III positions under the legal service and regulatory operations service.
