PLDT Inc. opened a cable landing station in Digos City, Davao del Sur, the company said, part of efforts to strengthen connectivity in Mindanao.
The Digos station is one of two Philippine landing points for the Apricot submarine cable system, the other being in Baler, Aurora.
Executives from PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, along with officials from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the Department 1 of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the Digos City local government unit, attended the inauguration.
PLDT is the Philippines’ largest fully integrated telco company. Through its principal business groups — from fixed line to wireless — PLDT offers a wide range of telecommunications and digital services across the Philippines’ most extensive fiber optic backbone and fixed line and cellular networks.
