DMCI Power adding 43-MW capacity

Off-grid energy provider DMCI Power Corp. (DPC) said Thursday it aims to expand its installed capacity by 27 percent, with 43 megawatts of projects under development this year.

DPC said the projects include the 12-MW Semirara wind project, the company’s first renewable energy venture, which is on track for commercial operations by early 2025.

The project will provide renewable energy to support mining operations in Semirara Island while limiting the use of diesel fuel, thus creating savings for the company.

DPC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DMCI Holdings Inc., has 159.8 MW of installed capacity and operates thermal, bunker and diesel power plants in Masbate, Oriental Mindoro and Palawan.

The company said additional projects include an 8-MW bunker power plant in Aborlan, Palawan, set for completion by the first quarter of 2025 and another 8MW bunker power plant in Masbate, expected to be operational by the second quarter.
