Western Visayas cops to learn Korean tongue

In a bid to break language barriers and better serve foreign nationals, specifically Koreans, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas is set to train its officers in basic Korean language.

“This is a game-changer,” said PRO-WV spokesman Lt. Col. Arnel Solis.

When Korean nationals approach our stations for help or to report an incident, we want them to feel understood—and served better,” Solis said.

Koreans remain among the most frequent foreign visitors to Western Visayas. By equipping frontline police with even basic Korean, the regional police hopes to improve response time, ensure clearer communication, and build public trust among tourists and expatriates.
