De Lima then met with local fisherfolk and barangay officials at Baybay Beach before concluding her visit with a courtesy call to religious leaders at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity.

At the fisherfolk meeting, De Lima highlighted the partylist’s commitment to protecting coastal communities. She introduced the proposed Magna Carta for Small Fisherfolk, which aims to reinforce the Fisheries Code of 1998 by securing 15-kilometer municipal waters for small-scale fishers’ exclusive use.

De Lima addressed concerns about large companies encroaching on municipal waters, stressing that authorities must take action to prevent such intrusions. “Commercial fishers should be hands-off,” she asserted.
