DHSUD engages urban poor in housing dialogues

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) recently held a dialogue with representatives of Partido Lakas ng Masa-Urban Poor Communities, focusing on inclusive, in-city housing under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar led the conversation, providing a platform for community leaders to raise housing concerns and suggest improvements to government initiatives, particularly for informal settler families in urban areas.

Acuzar emphasized that 4PH aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision to provide decent, safe, and affordable shelters for Filipino families. He reiterated that in-city and on-site housing projects would be prioritized for the urban poor.

The dialogue highlighted the importance of stronger collaboration between the government and people’s organizations. Acuzar stressed the need for grassroots input to ensure government housing programs meet the needs of local communities.

He concluded by reaffirming DHSUD’s commitment to ongoing consultations, assuring that the department remains dedicated to listening and addressing the concerns of the urban poor. “Under Bagong Pilipinas, no one shall be left alone,” he said.
