Eldrew Yulo landed ninth in the individual all-around event of the junior level in the 2025 Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships last Friday in Jecheon, South Korea.
But after ranking third during the early stages, the younger brother of Paris Olympics’ double-gold medallist Carlos Yulo advanced to the finals of four apparatus events — floor exercise, horizontal bar, vault and pommel horse — when the rotations ended.
The 16-year-old Yulo finished with a total of 75.698 points in the individual all-around.
Japan’s Nao Ojima ended up getting the all-around gold with 79.465 points, while Korea’s Cha Ye-jun (78.964) and Japan’s Tomoharu Tanida (78.365) clinched silver and bronze, respectively.
Yulo will be able to seek podiums in the floor exercise, horizontal bar and vault, where he won the gold last year in Tashkent, after landing in the top 8. He is also in the finals of the pommel horse, where he ranked ninth, but made it to the championship round due to the two-per-country rule when three Kazakh gymnasts ranked in the top eight.
Yulo took fourth spot in the vault qualification with 13.250 points, his best performance during the rotations, so far.
The younger Yulo was behind South Korea’s An Dae-geon (13.633) and Bak Jun-woo (13.500) and India’s Akshat Bajaj (13.316).
He was 12th in still rings with 11.933 points and 25th in parallel bars with 11.800 points.
Teammate Evan Thomas Aliwalas was 29th in the all-around with 67.397 points.
