CJ Opiaza has officially been named Miss Grand International 2024, becoming the first Filipina to wear the golden crown in the pageant’s history.
On Tuesday, June 3, Opiaza, looking radiant in a green and gold Mak Tumang gown, was crowned by Miss Grand International (MGI) founder Nawat Itsaragrisil following the resignation of India’s Rachel Gupta.
“I know best things happen for a reason. Before I signed up for this job, I knew I was born ready. I am always ready — and now I’ve been given the challenge… and the responsibility to fill that shoes as your first runner-up, and now, as your Miss Grand International 2024,” said Opiaza in her speech.
The ceremony was also attended by Arnold Vegafria, national director of MGI Philippines, who supported Opiaza’s rise from first runner-up to titleholder.
Opiaza’s crowning marks a historic moment for the Philippines in international pageantry. She is set to return to Manila for a grand homecoming celebration on June 8.
