Red Sternberg, best known as “Kiko” from the 1990s teen show “T.G.I.S.,” passed away just three days before his 51st birthday.
On Friday, May 30, his wife, Sandy Sternberg, confirmed his passing, saying Red died on the morning of May 27. The cause of death was not disclosed.
“My husband suddenly passed away the morning of Tuesday, May 27th,” Sandy wrote.
“It is hard to find the words right now to say that this has been the most difficult time I have ever gone through in my whole life. To be greeted with ‘happy birthday’ and ‘sorry for your loss’ at the same time for three consecutive days of what was supposed to be a celebration full of birthdays,” she continued.
Sandy described Red as simply “Dada” to their three kids.
“To those who knew him from his early acting days, he was ‘Kiko,’ but to our three kids and me, he was simply Daddy/Dada. Today would have been his 51st birthday,” Sandy added.
She asked for prayers and privacy as the family grieves. Memorial details will be announced soon.
“Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. I would kindly request our need for privacy at this time as we navigate this difficult journey,” she stated.
Red was a familiar face in “T.G.I.S.,” “T.G.I.S.: The Movie,” and “Silaw.”
