HBO has begun production on the drama series Lanterns at the historic Warner Bros. lot in Burbank. The show, based on DC’s Green Lantern, is produced in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios.
The series follows John Stewart, a new recruit, and veteran Lantern Hal Jordan as they investigate a murder in the American heartland, uncovering a dark, earth-based mystery.
The cast includes Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen.
Chris Mundy, who serves as showrunner and executive producer, described the series as a “layered drama” that blends tension and mystery with emotional depth while staying true to the source material.
Mundy co-wrote the pilot with Damon Lindelof and Tom King. James Hawes directs the first two episodes, with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov also set to direct. Other executive producers include James Gunn, Peter Safran, and Ron Schmidt.
Lanterns will be available for streaming on Max, which can be accessed via Smart, PLDT Home, Cignal, and other platforms.
