The Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 112 has dismissed the syndicated estafa complaint against actress and entrepreneur Neri Naig due to a lack of probable cause.
The Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office granted the motion to drop the case after a reinvestigation.
According to Judge Ronald August L. Tan, the complainants did not present evidence that Naig directly transacted with them or committed fraud.
The case stemmed from Naig’s endorsement of Dermacare, a skincare company accused of illegally soliciting investments.
Complainants claimed they invested in the company after seeing her promote it. However, Naig’s representatives maintained that she was only an endorser and had no involvement in its business operations.
Her husband, Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda, welcomed the court’s decision, saying Naig had been wrongly implicated in the controversy.
Naig was arrested in November 2024, drawing public attention to the case. With the charges dismissed, her legal team hopes authorities will focus on those responsible for the alleged scam.
