Actors Mikey Madison and Adrien Brody won the Best Actress and Best Actor awards, respectively, on Sunday, March 2 (Monday in Manila), at the Academy Awards.
Madison earned her first Oscar for her role as a sex worker who marries the son of a Russian oligarch in the drama “Anora.”

The 25-year-old beat Demi Moore (“The Substance”), Fernanda Torres, Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”), and Karla Sofia Gascon (“Emilia Perez”). In “Anora,” Madison plays Ani, an exotic dancer whose spontaneous marriage to a wealthy Russian heir sparks family drama.
It’s a breakout moment for Madison, who grew up in the San Fernando Valley and started acting at 16 on FX’s Better Things. She has since appeared in “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” and “Scream V.” The “Anora” role has already earned her wins at the Independent Spirit Awards and the BAFTAs.

Adrien Brody, meanwhile, claimed his second Best Actor Oscar for “The Brutalist,” where he plays an immigrant architect navigating postwar life. The 51-year-old first won an Academy Award for “The Pianist” at 29.
Brody now joins an exclusive club of multiple Best Actor winners, alongside Daniel Day-Lewis, Tom Hanks, and Anthony Hopkins.
