“Crazy Rich Asians,” the 2018 film based on Kevin Kwan’s best-selling novel, is getting a TV adaptation on Max.
Adele Lim, co-writer of the movie, will serve as showrunner and executive producer for the series. Jon M. Chu, who directed the film, and Kwan are also on board as executive producers.
The show will take a deeper look into Singapore’s wealthy elite, focusing on family ties, relationships, and extravagant lifestyles—key themes in the original story.
The 2018 film, starring Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Michelle Yeoh, was a box office hit, earning more than $230 million worldwide.
It was praised for its diverse cast and storytelling, which centered on Asian culture and traditions.
